Somerset is a rural county in South West England bordered by Gloucestershire, Bristol, Wiltshire, Dorset and Devon with a 64km coastline with stunning golden sand beaches. This makes it the perfect getaway to enjoy a variety of beaches, many prominent towns, soaring cliffs and serene wetlands.

You can take a stroll along the many beach routes to really take in the picturesque surroundings, such as the beautiful West Somerset Coast Path or the England Coast Path.

It has everything you love to see at a beach; from its lighthouses, ice cream parlours, rock pools, piers and even its very own shipwreck!

Nature lovers can enjoy many of Somerset´s wildlife wonders with its rare plants and birds that thrive in the environment.

Somerset has a fascinating tidal range with it being the second highest in the world, meaning you can visit one day, and the water is covering the shore and then the next you will barely see the sea.

In the City of Bath you will find well preserved thermae Roman Baths with three hot springs which were constructed between 60-70CE and legend has it that many people visited and prayed to the goddess Sulis Minerva, hoping that she would heal their worries by throwing offerings into the spring, such as coins hoping for wealth or messages inscribed on sheets of lead or pewter.

There are many beautiful beaches in Somerset, some of the main ones are Burnham-on-sea, Minehead, Weston-super-mare Beach, Sand Bay and Brean Beach among many more.

We also have a variety of different locations around Somerset with Beach Huts available!

Other Beaches:

Berrow Beach, Clevedon Beach, Dunster Beach, Selworthy Sands, Kilve Beach, St Audries Bay, etc.

PROS

  • Numerous dog friendly beaches
  • Beautiful golden sands

CONS

  • For keen surfers, there aren't many waves found at Somerset Beaches!
  • Many rural long and winding country roads to get to the different towns which can be daunting as you need to keep watch on hazards (But also enjoyable if you like exploring different picturesque surroundings).
