Situated directly on the beach... Kahakai Hu is on stilts set above the sands on the dog-friendly part of the beautiful and award winning Wells next the Sea beach.

Recently the hut has been raised, with new stairs, balcony rails and a complete internal and external refurbishment.

Kahakai Hu is fully equipped for your holiday, with a 2 ring gas stove, kettle, tea, coffee, biscuits, squash, cutlery, Bone China crockery, teapot, cafetiere, coolbox, beach loungers, deck chairs, tables, windbreak, parasols, buckets and spades, boules, books, binoculars, even a solar-powered fan and fairy lights. There are also dog bowls and treats for your four-legged friend... in fact, everything you need for a fabulous break by the seaside!

And even if its cool or it rains, just sit inside, relax on the comfy daybed and cushions, and gaze outside to the sea - with a book, a glass of wine or a cup of warming tea... just perfect.

Facilities information

Should you be new to holidaying here, not local, or are simply unaware of the multitude of things to see and do around Wells next the Sea and North Norfolk, the owners will happily send you a link for a What-to-do list for you to plan your break.

There is a guide to the local area and a map of Norfolk for you to use at the hut, and during high season there is a local publication detailing all that weeks activities and events. This is either at the hut or is available in the Co-Op supermarket and a number of local shops.

FIND IT

Kahakai Hu (hut number 84) is accessed from the Wells Next the Sea, Beach Road pay and display car park. To reach this on your Sat Nav/map use Postcode NR23 1DR or map reference TF 914 454.

This private Car Park can get very busy and even fills up completely on weekends and some holiday times, but it does open early.

From the Car Park entrance head towards the far opposite corner of the Car Park. The Car Park ticket machines take cash or card payments, and once you’ve paid and displayed, go along the track away from the café, signposted to “Norfolk Coast Path & The Lookout”. After 100m take the Right-hand fork signposted “Beach Access” In about 150m on this wooded walk there is a waste bin, where you take the set of steps up to the right. Be aware there are 69 steps up and 38 down again! At the beach turn RIGHT from the bottom of the steps and Kahakai Hu is the 6th hut along...

If you want to go into town, leave the car and use the electric bus or the vintage charabanc from the Car Park entrance to the town... its £3 per person each way
