The Owl and the Pussy Cat is a family owned, recently completely renovated ‘end terrace' beach hut on the lovely Friars Cliff end of Blue Flag Avon Beach, with stunning views of the Isle of Wight and the Needles. It is conveniently located for the Steamer Point car park and the award-winning Beach Hut Café. It is fully equipped with everything you may need for a day at the beach – all you need to do is turn up – and relax! The hut is in a perfect location just 100 yards from the Steamer Point Car Park. 130 yards along the promenade is the very popular Beach Hut Cafe. Public toilets and showers are close to the cafe and Mudeford Quay is 400 yards further along the promenade. It is just a 15 minute stroll over Steamer Point to Highcliffe Castle from the beach hut. The beach hut is fully equipped, including a camping gas stove, a water container, kettles, cutlery, crockery, glassware and pet water bowl. There are chairs, a table, loungers, a windbreak and a parasol, as well as buckets, spades and beach games. There is a fresh water tap less than 20 yards from the hut and the Steamer Point end of Friars Cliff Beach is designated as dog friendly.

The hut was perfect though following our day there were sent an email from the owner to say she was "concerned to hear that a hut neighbour had complained to the council that we were a very large group, taking up all of the promenade in front of the hut", the email went on to say that we had broken the conditions of the 6-8max people for the hut and she cancelled our second booking. Gutted is an understatement as we not only were a group of 8 max people (6 x adults, 1 x 9 yr old and 1 x 14 year old) we also had a dog, which was allowed in that part of the hut. We made sure we respected the neighbours and did not play any loud music or drink so were not loud. We made sure we respected the hut in entirety and for the majority of the day there was only 2 adults at the hut as the others walked to mudeford to go crabbing. The owner also said we were not social distancing however 3 of adults live in a house together (mum and her grown up son and his Fiance) and her partner lives alone has joined her bubble as the government has allowed single living people to do that. The other 2 adults and 2 children are a family of four who live together. As per the governments agreement two households are allowed to meet. one family on one side of the horseshoe seating arrangement and the other household split between inside the hut or sat on opposite side of horseshoe seating. When neighbours arrived (there were two huts further down the line) we watched and they popped up windbreaks and sat on the promenade, I specifically recall saying that must be what we are allowed to do so we aligned ourselves with them as they looked like they owned their hut so know the rules and regulations. Before we did this we only had a couple of chairs outside. The location is perfectly situated to the carpark, toilets and water tap. We had an absolutely great day and we have all told our friends how amazing the hut was and we were ALL really looking forward to coming back for a second day. We are ALL gutted to receive such an email and to be told that she is cancelling our second day. We have not broken ANY rules and have treated the hut with 100% respect, we even took our own chairs as we didn't want the children jumping on their chairs. Disappointed and I will be letting everyone I know not to book with this owner as she clearly does not hear both sides of the story before coming to a conclusion when in this instance we were 100% respectful!
